willkommen!
Lives close to water. Its long tail is ridged with a fin which is often mistaken for a mermaid's.
Hello and welcome to Aqua, a teeny tiny tribute to my favorite Pokémon, Vaporeon!
Number 134 has been my favorite Pokémon for over a decade now (which is sort of scary now that I think about it) so in the summer of 2009 I finally decided that I'd
create a long overdue dedication to it.

As seen above, Vaporeon is one of the so-called "Eeveelutions," an evolution of the Pokémon Eevee, known for its irregular genetic code and ability to evolve into
one of seven Pokémon: the Water type Vaporeon, of course, via Water Stone, Electric type Jolteon via Thunder Stone, Fire type Flareon via Fire Stone, Psychic type Espeon via happiness-based evolution during the day,
Dark type Umbreon via happiness evolution during the night, Grass type Leafeon via level-up in Eterna Forest, and Ice type Glaceon via level-up on Route 217.
Vaporeon is largest of all the Eeveelutions and possesses the highest HP. Pokédex entries states that it has the unique ability to melt into water and freely control the
substance. Additionally, its tail often causes it to be mistaken for a mermaid, and its fins vibrate when it is about to rain. Oooh. You'll find Vaporeon's various
Pokédex entries scattered throughout the page in corresponding colors.
origins
When Vaporeon's fins begin to vibrate, it is a sign that rain will come within a few hours.
Vaporeon debuted as one of the original 151 Pokémon, first in the Japan-exclusive Pocket Monsters Red and Green in February 1997, followed by the
Japanese-exclusive
Pocket Monsters Blue in October 1996. Two games based on the Japanese Blue version were released in North America in September 1998 as
the Pokémon Red and Blue versions.
Vaporeon and the other Eeveelutions' designs seem to be based on dogs or cats or some other form of adorable four-legged mammal. Vaporeon exhibits
characteristics of aquatic creatures, notably its fin-like ears and tail. Vaporeon's shiny form takes a light purple color.
The origin of Vaporeon's name is rather obvious; "vapor" means diffused water
and "eon" refers to a long period of time. All of Eevee's potential evolutions end with "-eon," possibly an allusion to the long span of time evolution takes. In fact, Eevee's original
English name was "Eon." Vaporeon's Japanese name is シャワーズ, Shawazuu, or... "Showers." Which is a pretty terrible name (that I
can assume refers to rain showers) if you ask me. Its German name is Aquana and its French name is Aquali, both refering to the word "aqua."
moveset
It prefers beautiful shores. With cells similar to water molecules, it could melt in water.
Since this site would be lacking without it, here's Vaporeon's level-up moves as of Pokemon Platinum.

super effective
As it uses the fins on the tip of its tail to swim, it blends with the water perfectly.
Vaporeon is one of the most popular Water type Pokémon, and for good reason. Its massive HP stat and excellent Special Attack make it
one of the best Water types to use, in my opinion! I usually set it up with a moveset of Surf, Ice Beam, Aqua Ring, and Acid Armor. Surf is a great
Water attack with a power of 95 and and 100% accuracy, which means Fire, Ground, and Rock types are easy KOs.
Ice Beam provides an attack that can hit Grass, Flying, and Dragon types pretty hard.
Aqua Ring is a good restorative move, which could be subsistuted for Wish if you go through some convoluted breeding methods, but I'm too lazy for that.
Vaporeon can also learn Baton Pass as an Eevee, if you want to pass on Aqua Ring or stat gains.
Vaporeon's one downfall is its relatively low Defense stat and its weakness to Grass and Electric moves. Acid Armor does provide a boost in Defense by two levels each
use and Ice Beam can effectively take down Grass types, but Vaporeon is best off not being used against Electric types at all. But it does take only 1/2 damage from
Fire, Ice, and Steel attacks, plus it completely absorbs Water type attacks thanks to its ability, which heals 1/4 of its HP when hit by a Water attack. Awesome.
If you're into EVs and breeding and natures and all that jazz, check out Smogon's
page on Vaporeon.
catch 'em all
Vaporeon underwent a spontaneous mutation and grew fins and gills that allow it to live underwater.
They have the ability to freely control water.
Do you want to catch a Vaporeon in one of your Pokémon games? Of course you do! So here's how! Just as a note, Vaporeon appears in a number of spinoff titles,
like the Mystery Dungeon and Pokémon Ranger series, but I'll be detailing the main Gameboy/DS games here only. 'Cause I only really play those.
Red, Blue, Yellow,
LeafGreen, & FireRed
In the first three games for the Gameboy and Gameboy Color and the Gameboy Advance remakes, Vaporeon can be obtained through the
Eevee found in the Celadon Mansion, in a Pokéball
on the fourth floor at level 25. Water Stones can be purchased at the Celdon Department Store for 2,100 dollars (or whatever the currency is. Pokédollars?).
Gold,
Silver, & Crystal
In the second set of Pokémon games for the Gameboy Color, an Eevee is obtained from Bill in Goldenrod City after he fixes the Time
Capsule. In Gold and Silver, Eevee can also be bought at Celadon's Game Corner for 6,666 coins. Water Stones are a bit hard to come by in Gold and Silver, only
obtainable from Mystery Gift, an item on Route 25, or by showing Bill's grandfather at Cerulean Cape a Staryu when he asks for one. In Crystal, additional Water Stones can be obtained
from Fisher Tully on Route 42.
Ruby, Sapphire, &
Emerald
Vaporeon is sadly unavailable in-game in the third series of Pokémon games for the Gameboy Advance. Lame! No wonder I never liked
these games. You'll have to trade
an Eevee in from FireRed, LeafGreen or from the Pokémon XD Gamecube game. A Water Stone can be found in the Abandoned Ship or through
giving Blue Shards to the Treasure Hunter on Route 124 near Mossdeep City. Blue Shards can be stolen from or found on wild Clamperl or found underwater.
Diamond, Pearl, &
Platinum
In the fourth set of games for the DS, there are multiple ways to get Vaporeon. An Eevee is obtained from Bebe in Hearthome City after completing the
National Dex in Diamond and Pearl or after simply reaching the city in Platinum. Eevee can also be caught (for the first time!) in the
Trophy Garden after talking to Mr. Backlot (tip: you can save and reset in front of him until he talks about the Pokémon you want appearing in the garden).
Water Stones can be dug up in the Underground.
HeartGold & SoulSilver
Vaporeon is obtained in the same manner as the original Gold and Silver; Bill gives the player one after speaking to him in his house in Goldenrod City.
Fortunately, Water Stones are easier to come by in these remakes. They can be obtained as a prize for winning first place in the Bug Catching contest or bought from the
Salon Shop at the Pokéthlon Dome for 2500 points on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday (after getting the National Dex). You can again receive one from Bill's grandfather, this time by showing him a
Staryu or a Marill, and Fisher Tully will also give them to the player should you register his number in the Pokégear. A Water Stone can also be found in the Seafoam Islands.
reason
It has evolved to be suitable for an aquatic life. It can invisibly melt away into water.
I think I first saw Vaporeon in an episode of the cartoon, which I used to watch every day after I came home from school in 6th grade. It was called,
"The Battling Eevee Brothers," I think, and featured the original three Eeveelutions and some dumb kid who didn't want to evolve his Eevee.
I remember thinking that Vaporeon was adorable and had an awesome design, and it could MELT INTO WATER OMG so why didn't that lame kid
evolve his Eevee into Vaporeon?! Loser.
I got the Yellow version for Christmas that year, and my Eevee had to become a Vaporeon, no questions asked. I remember
back in the days of R/B/Y everyone argued over what to evolve Eevee into, since these were the days before
breeding. I was always a proponent of Vaporeon, naturally. I raised mine in Yellow well past level 90, until my game was wiped one day. RIP Bubbles the Vaporeon,
with the awesome moveset of something like Aurora Beam, Ice Beam, Surf, and Hydro Pump ♥. I also totally had pictures I printed out of Vaporeon pinned to my
walls in middle school. Obviously I was the coolest kid. And while that was over ten years ago now and I don't
obsess over Pokémon anymore, I still love Vaporeon. It has a cute and unique design, not to
mention it totally kicks ass in battle, especially when it gained the ability Water Absorb. And I've always been partial to sea creatures, stemming from an interest in
marine biology ever since I was a kid.
I'm raising one in my Platinum game currently. Its name is Lazuli and it's kicking ass in the Battle Tower :). And I am oh-so-excited to raise one in
HeartGold.
about the site
Its cell composition is similar to water molecules. As a result, it can melt away into water.
Work on Aqua began in July of 2009 and was completed in August of the same year. Ever since I re-discovered my interest in the Pokémon
series after buying Diamond, I had thoughts about making a small dedication to my favorite Pokémon. I chose the name "Aqua" for a couple
rather boring reasons; it had to do with water, it was pretty sounding, and it looked nice on the layout :P. I decided to focus on the main game series
since I haven't watched the cartoon or played the TCG since I was 12, and the only spin-offs I've played are the first Pokémon Pinball,
Pokémon Snap, and that horrible TCG game for the Gameboy Color. I did read Pokémon Special recently but there's not much Vaporeon in it.
But anyway! This layout was made in Paint Shop Pro 8 and the fonts used came from dafont. Images and
sprites came from Bulbapedia and
Legendary Pokémon. Some tidbits came from
Gamefaqs.
